Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Police mentioned they were notified by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Around 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then found multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.

An important political figure said the attack made him speechless and needed to be addressed promptly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on online, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
